So we visited the famous Eumumdi markets today. They are amazing so may stalls with everything from arts and crafts to fresh produce. Eumumdi is a bit like Bellingin , very pretty leafy tiny town with the markets being the biggest attraction. We didn't buy anything but fresh produce however I can now tick it off my list of things to see and do. From there we travelled back to the big Pineapple, which is derelict and run down, and only comes to life on a Saturday for the farmers markets, where of course we picked up some more fruit and veg. Johns going to try Dragon fruit for the first time, can't wait to see his reaction.
From there we travelled into Noosa, ho hum really dead and not our cup of tea. I'm sure it's full of tourists during peak season, but for us was really boring. We had breakfast at the coffee club, and of course eggs benedict was on the menu. Not bad, but could have been better. I rate this one a four out of ten. So we decided to have a look at Coolum Golf Club then continue down the road to Mooloolaba and Alexandra Heads. Now this is a beautiful place. Shame there was no accomodation available, but we saw why..... There was a surfing competition happening. We stopped at the park on the hill to see a monument for the HMAS Brisbane which was scuttled of the coast to create an artificial reef. We checked out the fishing co-op only to find that seafood is just as expensive in Newcastle as it is here..... Thought the further north we got the better the prices, maybe that will still happen up further.
From there we drove through Caloundra, a much older town, but still on the coast. Another tourist area. I'm sure people love it but I can't wait till we get of the main highway and start seeing areas that aren't tourist driven.... Not sure what our plans are for true next the couple of days. Stay tuned.
