Ciao Ragazzi!!!
So since we last got our blog on we have got a fair bit to catch you all up on...
On Friday arvo/night we arrived in treviso from Verona, which wasn't a long train ride, it was getting around treviso from the station to our hotel which was the pain! Adam got a map of the city and took charge directing us, but he managed to turn a 15minute walk into a big lap of the city and finally after 45minutes pf walking around in the heat with our packs on we got there, needless to say that a shower was in order before we caught up with Adam's family! We went out for a nice dinner in the main piazza of treviso and then Chloe retired to bed while Adam went out to catch up with his cousin Giacomo, Simone and Giovanna.
The next day, Saturday, Giacomo picked us up in the morning and we headed out to catch up with the rest of the family. Adam's Italian still wasn't up to scratch so lucky Giacomo and his girlfriend Anna were there to help translate haha!
We stayed for a coffee with Zia Rina, Zia Gina, Zio Gigi and Zio Toni (and yes mum you will be pleased to know we took photos with everyone!!. We also ran into Monica, Lorenzo, Diego and Loredana and all the kids, it was great to see them all!! Little Camila tried to give Chloe a pot plant to take home, but thinking that border patrol wouldn't really approve she settled with just a flower for her hair!
We went out for an awesome lunch with Giacomo, Simone and Anna in Treviso, but we were spewing we didn't get the awesome looking strawberry dessert the senior citizens on the table next to us got, damn!!!
In the arvo Giacomo acted as our tour guide and showed us around Treviso, if he gets sick of doing university he could definitiely start his own travel company haha!!
For dinner that night we were invited to Giacomo's house where Giorgio cooked us the best three course meal!! Mushroom risotto, steak and potato and to finish a chocolate mousse!! Giorgio has set the standard for what you have to cook on the weekend now dad, no more chilli concarne, I want three course meals hahaha! It was a great dinner though, and we really appreciated katia and Giorgios hospitality!!
Following that Giacomo took us out to show the Australians how the italians party..which mean lots and lots of shots, a great end to a great weekend in Treviso though!
The following day we left treviso to spend the night in Venice. The half and hour train ride there was the most relaxing part of the day haha! So we got to the station and booked our trains out of there to Lucerne in Switzerland for the following morning, and then started our hike to the hotel which was near piazza San Marco (for anyone who has been to Venice they would realise this isn't the shortest of walks..especially with a big backpack and in crowded streets in 29degree weather). After about an hour we finally got to the hotel, lucky enough for us we were upgraded to an aprtment with a kitchen, but that meant more walking to another building hahaha!!
We thought we could finally relax, but then Adam realised were given train tickets to Lugano (near the Swiss-Italian border) instead of Lucerne, so we had to walk back to the station :-(
oh and also our apartment was kind of creepy, there was a small cupboard which looked like it had sound proof walls and there was a random chair just sitting in there...had we just entered a place like the movie 'hostel' haha??
On our way back to the train station we found anlittle cafe and brought some food to make a little picnic with, but it kind of sucked for Chloe because her roll had rotten lettuce in it haha
Later at the station we were lucky enough to get our tickets changed around, pretty sure it was because the guy in the ticket office got scared when adam flexed his muscles at him!
Walking back to the hotel/grand canal we managed to get lost again, but brought ourselves pasta and sauce for €2, best cheapest dinner ever!! Woo go us haha!
Chillin by the grand canal watching the sunset was amazing, great way to end what had been a fairly average day in a great city. Yeah seriosuly though don't get us wrong, walking around Venice we got to see soo much and although we were exhausted we loved it!!!
The next morning on our way to Lucerne the fun isn't end, the alarm on Adams phone didn't go off properly so we kind of slept in and managed to miss the water taxi to the station haha, so we got stuck paying freakin €60 for a private boat to take us to the station, and after that we literally missed our 7:50 train by 10seconds, but we did get to wave at all our fellow pssengers heading to Milan haha
Lucky for us we managed met the best guy in the ticket office at Venice station and he helped us get a train to Milan in time to make the connecting train to Lucerne..
So lessons to be learnt from the day in Venice:
1.always check that your train tickets are ok!
2.get a map of the city before you leave the station so you know where to go to your hotel so you don't get lost
3.wake up earlier in the morning!
Chloe is busy cooling dinner for is now so this blog entry must come to an end, we will try update with Lucerne journeys soon!!
Lots of love, the a man and the chlostar!!
