Bonjour (as if we both weren't sick of saying that everytime we answered the phone at the mansion haha)!
As you may gather we've spent the last few days in Paris, France. Continuing on from the last blog post we spent Saturday night with Willy and Jenna at a club in Barcelona called Otto zutz, rocking out to some crazy hip hop rnb tunes. After only a few hrs sleep we got up and headed for the train station way too early on Sunday. Ok now fast forward the 10hrs we spent on the train from Barcelona to Paris because nothing exciting happened..at all! We basically slept the entire way haha!!
Arriving in Paris was, well interesting. We had to catch the metro to get from one of the central stations (it was called Gare de Lyon, haha everytime I thought about it all I could think about was hairy Gary lyon!!) to our hotel. Getting out of the metro we walked the rest of the way to our hotel because they close half the metro on sunday's, now this is where it gets interesting. This area centered around a street called la chapelle was unlike everything you imagine Paris to be, it was like walking through Footscray, but even worse...like Harlem or something. Lucky for us we survived our journey through the ghetto in one piece (well two if you count there is two of us).
We spent Sunday night just enjoying a horrible French rip off of 'neighbours' in our shoebox size hotel room haha and devouring delicious French Onion Soup!!
With breakfast finishing in our hotel at 9am
daily we were forced to get up early again haha. After breaky, with no real plan of what we were going to do we took the metro into central Paris. Walking out of the metro we got our first glimpse of the Eiffel tower, but instead of rushing straight there we decided to head to the Lourve Meuseum. Although due to a system failure on the computers at the Lourve we couldn't buy our tickets so we had to leave there and instead made our way to the Notre Dame. We walked around the cathedral admiring the stain glass windows and in search of Quasimodo (for those of you who have not been privileged enough to see the Disney animated movie 'the hunchback of Notre Dame', this is the main character of the film). With no luck finding the elusive hunchback we decided to expolre the towers of the Notre Dame to see if he was hiding up there in his belltower chatting with the gargoyles....but not after we made a pit stop for the best nutella filled crepe ever!!!
The view from the towers was amazing, however after questioning the gargoyles we weerent able to find out anymore and had to end our quest for Quasimodo :-(
We went from there to find the catacombs, we had been told great things about them so wanted to go see what all the hype was about. It felt like we had been walking around in circles for ages when we finally stumbled across the ticket booth for the catacombs which had a big sign slapped across it saying "closed due to flooding". Damn!!! We had walked all that way for nothing, prettyy pretty pretty annoying!
We thought to waste away our afternoon at the Lourve, hopefully all systems were ago by now. Luckily they had the system back up and we made a line straight for the Mona Lisa. For anyone who has ever been to the Lourrve they will understand just how big this meuseum is...it's like the Melbourne meuseum on steroids. So it was pretty awesome to see the Mona Lisa, The Aprodite and heaps of kickass Egyptian relics but our brains couldn't handle much more then that!
It was starting to get late and we didn't want to end up having to walk around the ghetto at nightime to so decided to make it back to our hotel. On they way back though we managed to catch a squeeze of the Moulin Rouge, which was such a tease because we wanted to go so badly but could barely comprehend how much they charge for entry into a show. After such a big day Monday night was spent relaxing quietly with some more terrible French tv!
Sorry guys can't fit all of the Paris trip into one blog, we will finish Paris and start on Belgium where we currently are really soon!!
Lots of love and miss you all, from a-ney and c-sir
Ps sorry about the lack of photo uploading, we have wanted so badly to have had photos up but we just can't find any Internet that is quick enough, will keep trying for y'all!
