So yesterday I took the bus by myself for the first time!! I know it doesn't like a big deal, but the buses here are kind of scary. You have to have monedas (coins) in order to ride the bus. Monedas are sacred here right now. Argentina is going through a shortage of monedas, so nobody wants to give them away. Lots of times if you don't pay with exact change a store wont want to give you any change back. The only way you can really get monedas is to go to the bank and exchange. When you get on the bus you have to pay the bus driver the amount you want to pay, based on your destination and then, while the bus is moving, you have to put the coins in this cup or slot. Easier done than said. Add alcohol to the mix and it makes it even harder.
After school yesterday I went to Palermo with a couple of girls from my group and in my same class. We walked around and found this little market like thing in the plaza. I bought a pretty purple jacket for 100 pesos $26.39. Pretty good deal for a hand made jacket. When then got coffee. That's what you do here after class. You just go and chat in a cafe. It's kinda nice, I like the relax life style here. I have not gotten used to the night life though. Last night we didn't go out to the clubs or boliches as they are called here until like 2. And I didn't get home until close to 7!! It's so weird to be walking on the streets just returning and see people going to work. I'm not sure if I can ever get used to it. I like to enjoy the day rather than sleep it away.
Today was awesome, I went to pickup at UBA with my friend. It took us forever to find the ultimate people among the games of soccer, but it was worth it. I didn't realize how much I missed it! Once again I think ultimate may be my savior here. There are four coed teams here and one of them is actually in need of girls, so I'm hoping to join. It would be a perfect outlet and a good place to meet people and practice my spanish.
Ehh sometimes I hate living so far away. I love Christina and Carlos so much, but living outside of the city is annoying. I always have to take a train, bus or pay for a taxi. It makes me just want to stay at home and not go out. Saves me money, but makes me feel a little a loser haha.
I miss oasis. I need to find a falafel and pita pronto!
