Vail yesterday was the best skiing I have ever done in my whole life. The front of the mountain looks small, but once you take the 10 min chair lift ride to the top you see the real mountain on the back side. The back side is 7 miles wide and from front to back is 5 miles deep.
To set the scene...got up when i got up and it was -20 out. The crazy britt i was going skiing with did not like this so he suggested we take out time getting ready and there was no rush. no problem with me- taking it easy is my style. anyway we get to the mountain around 9 and we skiing by 9:30. The ride up was chilly and cold but the sun was out and this was the best view by far once we got to the top. At the top you begin to see the back of the mountain. There are no trails, no people, 5 lifts, and powder up to my waist. All day we made fresh tracks in the powder. 1t about 10:30 it warmed up nice, 35 degrees, and the sun was out all day. We covered the bowls, dropping off some little cliffs into the powder and we covered the trees skiing waist deep in powder. What a day. We were beat by 3:00 and the headed down the front of the mountain, a 20 min ski down.
Slept great last night.
Today I am going with a couple friends to look at a house and tomorrow i have an interview for a bussing job at vail. It something!
