Spent the morning of Thanksgiving checking out places around here. Went to crested bute, which is a nice ski area and town, but it is a little too far out in the middle of no where for me. Thanksgiving was bright and sunny all day and the views were unimaginable. Ended up going to the fire station at Breckenridge for a Thanksgiving meal. Was not even close to the same as being at home with family though. Met some kids while eating and talked for a long time, it was good to get a good conversation in. We went for a beer afterward and they gave me advice about living and finding a job. It has been 2 days now in town and I have no response on any jobs. Living is extremely expensive even if you have room mates. I have this cheap motel until Sunday night, if i do not get any response on a job i think it may be time to move on. This place just may not be for me.
Today, the day after thanksgiving, i went for a run in town and up a small road where a bunch of condos were. I ran though town and then probably mile up hill and then had to walk. It is much harder to breath here. I am at 9600 feet at the base of the mountain. The views on the way down were amazing. Also did a couple short hikes on the way back to the hotel to see some scenic views. There was one with a lake and white mountains behind it, just incredible.
Tomorrow 11/27 I plan on running a snow shoe race at copper mountain, should be fun. Hopefully will meet some more people and get some more info.
