The past week we have been exploring around Hook, and having an awesome time staying with Jane, Luke's aunty. The nearby towns of Basingstoke, Fleet, Portsmouth and Southampton have all been subject to the two best looking tourists going round.
During the week we some time looking for some work, with mixed results. A few of the neighbours were impressed by our paint job on Jane's garage door and have asked for our services. However the request of a naked painting of Old Mrs Cunningham is one that we will have to think about.
On Thursday night we joined forces with Tom (Luke's Cousin) and some of his mates to head out to Fleet, for student night. After two different pubs, and the pint count nearing double figures, we went to Jaxx, the local club. However the night suffered a premature end when a few words and punches were exchanged and we made the decision to go home. For the record the amount of girls that showed any interest in me was at an all time low. Some redemption was achieved a coupe of days later but that is another story.
Saturday brought a road trip with Jane to Portsmouth. We were pleasantly suprised as to how nice it was, a bit of a mixture of Docklands and Surfers Paradise. But the main attraction of Portsmouth was, with risk of sounding a bit poofy, the shopping. The swipe of our debit cards was as prevelant as the waves at the nearby beach. The Calvin Klein and Guess shops felt the wrath of our spending, as somewhat ironically we went OVER the top on UNDERwear. We also got a good 360 degree view of Portsmouth as we went up the Spinnaker Tower, the tower with the highest glass floor in the world. Lunch by the water followed, at a very nice restaurant.
Despite such a good day, one of the highlights of our trip so far was in fact Saturday night. It all started at the local pub, watching the England vs USA game with 300 odd locals. So busy was the pub, we started lining up for a drink 10 minutes before kick-off, but we could not enjoy our first pint until just before half time. After the game we got on a mini bus with 24 locals for two girl's 18th's. The bus took us to Southampton, but some drunk idiot decided we should walk for half an hour to find another bar. To be fair it was worth it, as Yates' was a great venue. As the condition of the group went from drunk to drunker we ventured to a nearby club, Oceana. This was the best club either of us have been to, with two vastly different rooms. One was for the best RnB hits of today, whilst the other was based on classic hits and had the theme of a 90's disco. The quality of women in these clubs was second to none, and the success was a lot better than Thursday night as my true class showed.
The bus trip on the way home allowed us to give these young Poms an education into some classic Australian chants, including "I wish all the women" and "I'd rather be a Paki than a Pom." Eventually we did arrive home, but not before it was light or a handful of Pom's had been given an education on bus trips.
