So much has happened over the last week. It has been very hot for the majority of the week and whilst we were still at Manor Farm we spent a lot of time by the pool. However we still found time to plant 250000 plants (give or take) and spend a fair bit of time with the air rifles. A highlight was a late afternoon hunt with the air rifles on a warm day, where we took out the buggy on the top field.
But the night out hunting foxes with Malcom, one of Jess's friends was a great experience. After a few unfruitful hours we were about to head in for the night when we thought we would have a quick scan of the fields with the spotlight. This turned out to be a good decision because we managed to first spot one fox (well Matt did) and then after Malcom shot it from 100 metres, we moved back and he blew his fox whistle. Another fox came out of the woods with the same result. So we had a very successul and entertaining night.
We also managed to fit in a bike ride to the nearby town of Hungerford in a mission to get some new co2 bottles for the air rifles. Jess gave us a map with directions which got us to town alright, HOWEVER little did we know that the store that we needed to buy the bottles from was in fact a clothing store. After much confusion and several failed attempts to catch a squirrel we put two and two together and went into the store.
Despite the fact we could have happily stayed on the farm with the Kary's for a few decades, we moved on to our next destination on Friday. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hospitality, kindness and violent goose.
Friday night brought a new experience for us in London, that being a night with the Eltham College UK boys. We spent the night at Scorgie's, a mate of Luke's from the cricket tour. We both learned very important lessons that night. Matt learned that a dodgey hamburger and shots of whisky mix about as well as a dinner date between Osama Bin Laden and George Bush. While Luke learned that girls are a species that men will never understand (thanks for that lesson Sophie!) We are both loooking forward to Party Week (Schoolies) with the Eltham boys in just under a month.
Now we have moved on to stay with Jane, Luke's Aunty, who we will be with for around 4 weeks. During this time we will do a bit of work, as well as making our way to Dublin for a few days.
After a lovely lunch in London yesterday for Barbie's (Luke's cousin) birthday, we went to the travel agent to sort out our accomodation for Paris. This turned out to be a 2 hour flirt fest as Luke had some fun with our travel agent who was a fine young specimen of british female.
We decided we would then walk to Oxford St for some shopping. Little did we know that we would end up in the front row of the crowd for the red carpet for the British TV Acedemy Awards. We saw some celebrities first hand. These included Ant & Dec who host Britains Got Talent, and Diversity who are the dance group who beat Susan Boyle to win the show last year. However the hightlight was Jane Lynch, who is Sue in Glee, the psychiatrist in 2 and a half men, counseller in Role Models, and in the 40 year old virgin.
