I awoken feeling fresh and ready for a new day and some time to myself whilst cleaning. My first task was to hang out the washing from the 3rd floor on the apartment (suicide mission) an hour later I had completed the task! When the kids arrived home from school I spent some time with them learning to play chess and various board games, the Spanish/English awkwardness is still present but slowly but surely it is getting better. I had some tapas with the mother which involved potatoes, chicken and beef mashed together with lots of olive oil and salt it was actually nice. Later we visited the beach and met their friends (mother and daughter) who were also Spanish and had a play on the beach. The English was flowing and I had such a great time, big black Beatles were crawling around and as we were sitting Lucia the girl threw it in the air and obviously it landed on me who was running about crazy. We were all on the ground laughing. As we finished the walk I was asked 'como se dice caracoles en ingles' I had no clue, turns out it was snails and I had to try them... I felt sick with the thought of it but I didn't want to be disrespectful. There is comes a bowl of shells with the snail literally hanging out it with its little ears... You have to bite the head and pull it out... Surprisingly it tasted really good, I just tried not to look when i ate it. We headed home where we hate tortillas (Spanish omelette) and salad for dinner and the atmosphere sitting at the dinner table was excellent, I felt a lot more comfortable and we were all laughing talking in Spanish and English. I feel a lot more at home tonight.
