Set off on our journey to the medieval town of Saint-Ursanne, situated on the Le Doubes river in the Canton Jura, a french region of Switzerland.
Once we left the many varied autoputs our senses were challenges by the most beautiful landscapes. There were forests, green grassy plateaus a long often very narrow winding road that often followed a bubbling creek.
We gorged ourselves on freshly caught trout - that was exceptionally succulent. The church in Saint-Ursanne was amazing. It was built in the 16th century. the floor was made up of hughe evenly cut slabs of stone and the arches inside the church were also made of stone decorated with pastel paint along the edges. A small curved archway lead us to spot were I lit candles for my mum, Ange's mum & Dom. We found a narrow stairway that took us down into a small 'room' again supported by stone arches.
Afterwards we travelled about 10 km further on to the town of La Motte in France. No border control.
