Christina´s Extraordinary Adventures Abroad!
Ok sooo I have decided that I have to sometimes be in a really good writing mood to want to write really good entries here. So hopefully I am in one of those moods....this could be long...
Monday July 10:
I didn't really do anything...Mondays always suck...no matter what country you are in LOL...and yesterday sucked even worse because first thing in the morning I found out my good friend Mary who I met here 2 weeks ago from Washington was going home today because her uncle had a serious stroke and they found an inoperable brain tumor. I am really sad for her....she decided to go home because she knew she couldn't ever forgive herself if something worse were to happen and she stayed here. Understandable...completely! Im bummed....because she was also only here for a month and we all hung out everyday...we will definitley miss hanging out with her for these next two weeks....
But on a better note...we went to the travel agency today and booked our trip to Uruguay. We are going this Saturday...another day trip...I am really excited it is supposed to be amazing!
Tuesday July 11:
Well today was INTERESTING!!....more like a WHAT THE HECK day of adventure. It all started when I got to class this morning to find that my teacher was sick and that class was canceled for the day. Well after walking 25 minutes to school its kindof pointless to go all the way home...so me and a few girls from my class went to breakfast as a little cafe down the road. This was alot of fun. It was good to hang out with a new group of people. 2 of the girls are really strong Christians and so we had a long descussion about the church and Christianity in general...it was really refreshing to hear other followers of Christ sharing about their views and such on everyday things...I also got to share with them about what the youth group is doing now in the Czech Republic and what we did in Ecuador and stuff....which then by the end of the conversation we were sharing the gospel in full and quoting Bible verses to one of the girls at the table in a debate about religion. It may not have been the most pleasant conversation for everyone at the table but I really enjoyed it...and was glad I got the opportunity to have it. After this Shannon and I decided to sight see for a few hours before we went back to the school at 2:30 to meet everyone else who did have class today. Her roommate had told her about this art museum that was an old hotel where artists came in and each were given a room and allowed to paint and design it however they wanted. So we venture out to this place and find it easliy and walk in to where they ask us our age...they tell us we can go in for free so I figure that its because we are so young....it isn't until a few steps around the corner that I realize they needed to know our age due to the graphic content of the exhibition....OMG!!....the first thing we walk into is photos of moving taxi cabs in NYC...so we think oh cool...and move on to the next area...where there are tons of paintings of nude women...and I don't mean like your average beautiful artwork of nude people...I mean pretty graphic nude paintings...well little did we know that this was just the beginning of the graphic nudity and raunchiness!!...we then enter the main part of the museum where the guide tells us in english that this hotel was once a couples sex hotel....so hello first sign this was gonna be bad...but it didn't look sketchy so we continued walking...she told us about how each artist got their own room and stuff and set us on our way through the exhibition. We entered the first room which looked pretty normal with hearts and flowers all over the rooms until you turned around and saw male private parts all over the wall...well...it only got worse...and we couldn't leave without walking through the whole thing to the exit...each room got worse and worse...from beastiality...to gay porn...to weird rooms in bubble wrap with crime scene tape all over the bed...there was loud like scary music playing over the speakers and I was literally about to be sick and pass out...I was freaking out and ever so often I couldn't help but let out the childish immature laughs over the things we were seeing...it was AWFUL!!....out of all like 20 something rooms there was one that was what we thought the whole thing was going to be like...painted all classical and bright...not raunchy at all...and of course it was THE LAST room we got to. By this point I was dying laughing as Shannon is repeatingly apologizing for bringing me to a place like this. We walk out of the freak show and met up with the guide again who preceeded to tell us about how weird and scary the rooms were to her...notice how she didn't share this information with us before we entered...she also explained how most of the artists were very provacative and extreme and used the room to express not only abnormal sexual things but also fear....they sure succeeded!! OMG!!! She then told us how they were able to do this because on the 16th of this month the hotel is going to be destroyed and a new high rise building will be built in its place...thank goodness...no one else needs to see that!....After walking out I felt like I needed to pray or something...I felt soooo dirty after seeing all that stuff...but at the same time couldn't stop laughing that we ended up there and that her roommate thought it was soo amazing...this was probably because her roommate is an art major...and to her it was probably just ¨beautiful art¨ ...known to us as DISGUSTING CRAP!!....it was OUT OF CONTROL!!!!! So after that outrageous experience we decided to go to a beautiful rose garden...which we discovered doesn't have any roses during the winter....hahahaha....but regardless the park was beautiful and we took alot of pictures of the scenery. During our excursion we stumbled upon the Avenida John Fitzgerald Kennedy...whoa hello as in JFK!!!....and wouldn't you know as we looked up we were right in front of the US Embassy....I was excited!!! I went up to the fence and took my camera out to take a picture of our beautiful flag on foreign soil when I am suddenly being yelled at by an Argentine gaurd telling me that I couldn't take pictures there....Um excuse me...I'M AN AMERICAN....IT'S THE AMERICAN EMBASSY!!!....WHAT THE HECK!?!?!?.....I didn't quite express myself like that at the time...but I sure as heck wanted to....so I asked him why and he wouldn't give me a reason just kept telling me in spanish that I couldn't. Two things bothered me here...one...There are no signs that say that along the fence and there is a park across the street that anyone can take pictures from...and two...why was an Argentine gaurd telling me this in Spanish and not some hot US marine in english!?!?!?....I was pretty ticked and walked across the street and took a microscopic pic of the embassy anyways...we then passed another building with the US flag...maybe the consulate or ambassadors house...not sure...and I tried to take a picture of that and was again told by an Argentine guard that I couldn't....so again as we crossed the street I did it anyways....I just knew at any moment they were going to come running across that park and tackle me on the ground and arrest me for taking pictures of my own dang American flag...that would have made for an interesting journal entry for sure!!! HAHAHA
Well after these outrageous adventures with my friend Shannon we went back to the school to meet up with everyone and Drew, Mary and Lori and I went out to lunch to say goodbye to Mary before she left this evening to go home...it was fun but sad times to see her go...
Im getting sick again...the weather SUCKS...but oh well...only 2 more weeks of it...but other than that everything is great here! My host mom is crazy...but I love her to death and I laugh hysterically almost all the time I am there and class is good even though its long as crap...everyday for the next 2 weeks we will be sightseeing in order to even try and see everything we want...so be sure to check daily for more out of control stories...hopefully we wont experience anything else as disgusting as today....anyways Love you guys and miss yall!!
