Saturday 23.02.08.............Museum
Up early again to cover the Saturday morning shift...4 and a half hours straight!! Goodness me the energy levels were dropping by the last class!! And this mother said that her child could mess around as it was not their normal teacher...I think not I wanted to slap her!! By the end of it I had worn the skin of my knees leaving them raw as we teach in a pool of only 0.9m!! My poor legs!!
When I get back I have a quick lunch and meet Olivia (Georgie is not well!) And then we head off for the Exhibition Centre....however when we arrive we realise we have turned up to the wrong exhibition centre, we were hoping to find the Backpackers Expo not the Motor Show 08!! OOPS!! We looked very silly...so we decided to head to the Immigration Museum instead! And result...it was free!! I must say the geeky side of me does really like museums!! I found it really interesting as I had learnt a lot about Australian History in P.E. so it kind of expanded my knowledge about how people migrated and who wasn't allowed in (Chinese) and who were shipped out (Germans!!) due to Wars etc!! The building was absolutely gorgeous as well so I got lots of photos!!
After we headed to Federation Square and went to the ACMI (Australian Centre of Moving Images) Centre...it was free again so this made us very happy. We sat in these bubbles and viewed about eight short films from up and coming movie and documentary makers! Not that we were that impressed I think the very amateur video Fleur and I shot for Fleur's Drama was much better!!
I head home and cook myself some dindins!! I get to bed nice and early as I have work in the morning!!
Saturday 24.02.08................Carling Cup................What a SHOCKER!!
I wake nice an early as sadly I have another shift to cover...but at emergency rates of $28 an hour so I cant complain!! I do 2xWaterbabies classes and an hour of Learn to Swim so it is rather copable!! And i am getting much more confident at the Waterbabied so its great!!
I get home and meet the girls as we aim to head to the right exhibition centre and actually explore the Backpackers Expo...however...I have a hairbrush crisis!!! Georgie took my brush to her apartment by mistake and OMG my hair was so matted from thurs (yes I had not washed it for a few days) and all I had was a soppy comb from Adam's board shorts to work with!! And it took me about 30 mins, my mother would have been so cross!! Eventually I made it out and met the girls...we picked up so many leaflets about different offers on day trips etc all over Australia so I have a lot of researching to do over the next few weeks to ensure I get the best deals!! Oh and I found a company that sends people to England to work in pubs and bars and......OMG they recruit people to Walkabout in Croydon!! Anyone who feels the love for Walkabout will be excited with me here (ok probably only Frankie and Fleur!!) We also met these rather attractive Aussies who we chatted to for a while and the suggested all the best places to go when travelling...and I managed to blag the Union Jack Flag from them at the end, sadly another stall refused to give us their ballons and blow up palm trees :(
When I get back I find Adam, Jamie, Aaron and Jamie all psoing in their spurs shirts for photos, reluctantly I offer to take some photos! And I am not feeling the fact that I am the only Chelsea supporter!! And they try to claim that I am a glory hunter however, I explain that I was indeed brainwashed from a young age, due to my father's love for the Blues, and that I did infact attend Stamford Bridge most weeks in my strip and full face paint!! I had a sleep in the afternoon as I knew it was going to be a late night!!
We left in search of a pub at 12am and found an English Pub called Charles Dickens!! However, as soon as I entered I realised that there were very few blue shirts around! And that we were in fact in the official Spurs pub of Australia (OZSpurs) so umimpressed!! We are so out numbered!! The songs start and continue throughout the game! With Chelsea being drowned out by 'Yido Yido Yido' and to make matters worse Chelsea blody lost (very shocking) so I then had to endure an hour of match celebrations!! On the way home we find two gay tranvestites!! It was so hilarious and they were from London!! Finally getting a very drunk and happy spurs four back to the aparmtent at 6am!! Oh dear!!
Monday 25.02.08
I make myself sleep in till 1pm as I really needed the sleep and crawl out of bed to get ready for work!! So not wanting to work after last night! The shift is fine though, it is test week this week and the assessor (my supervisor) is really impressed with how my kida have come on in a term so I am all smiles!!
When I get back I watch Scarface...having Jamie explain what is going on throughout!! I then make dinner and head back to bed!!
Tuesday 26.02.08
All day shift, really feeling the lack of sleep! Not good!! I have absolutely no enthusiasm so really have to grit my teeth and squeeze any energy out of me!! I sleep in my lunch break in the park...bad move!! The afternoon goes quickly thankfully!! Even though some of the children are on another planet to mine!! Lunch does however cheer me up...Brie and Turkey sandwiches...how I miss my Mummy's sandwiches and Carshalton Beeches Bakery bread!!
When I get back I cook dinner and watch Episode 3 - Gossip Girl...it is so amazing!! And get some sleepies!! Very emotional as Aaron is leaving tomorrow he is heading to Great Ocean Road to work for a few weeks so we say bye bye to him!!
Wednesday 27.02.08
I cover a school shift in the morning at MSAC adn experience the worst children I have ever taught in my life!! They fight, swear!! But I put on my strict cap and slap them back down to earth!! I even drag a child out and call a teacher over...oh I love the power!! Not looking forward to taking the group next week at all!! I get back, Aaron has gone and Olivia and Georgie have arrived as they are staying the night before they leave for Sydney :( I shove some lunch down my throat and head for MVC to do my evening shift! I have to cover another teacher so I don;t get to take the squads tonight which is a shame!! And I expereince something I have never before, a child that is scared of me and who just does not like me!! I was deeply hurt as I did not have dark hair like here normal teacher so she would go nowhere near me...not a good day of teaching today!! After a frozen 3 and a half hours in the pool I do half hour of squads and get home!!
As its the girls last night we head for St Kilda (even though all I want is my bed) we arrive to late for the BBQ ao go in search of pizza and ahve an amzing Pizza for only $8.40 at La Porchetta!! Yum!! We then head back to The Saint...and have the most spontaneous but awesome night!! The music is the best I have heard so far, a mix of RnB and 70s,80s,90s music!! We absolutely loved it....one minute we'd be listening to Footloose and Wham, the next Britney and Backstreet Boys!! It was so good! And the bouncers were so hot as were the DJs!! We had a good 4 hour boogey meeting some lads from Birmingham and some that were shooting a film here in Australia, oh and we witnessed a fight! It took 4 bouncers to get this man out of the club!! Scary!!
Sorry for the poor update, Frankie and Hannah have indeed arrived and I have been very busy with them!! So I am not quite up to date but they will be leaving tues morning :( so I shall give you a huge update then!! I have uploaded many photos to facebook...so you can look there but I am still struggling to get them on here! It takes a year!!! But hopefully a few more should follow!!
Love and Happy Mother's Day to Mummy, and all my other Mum's out there...you know who you are!!xxxxxxxxxxxxx
