Australia Day!!

Hey Everybody, I am now nicely settled and pretty much over my jetlag! My group of friends are slowly growing and the weather is hotting up (NOTE: I am sweating like a pig in a dark room writing this to you and its like 34 C outside!) I have visited my place of work and start on Tuesday. The facility is amazing, being a swimmer (well ex) the pools are amazing. There is a 50m inside and out and then about 5 other pools. I have had my induction and the people are really funny, except that I got called 'Charlene' for the first few hours!! NOT GOOD! However, there is a downside to the great working facilities...I am only getting 7 pound an hour!! And with not many hours. So I will be doing much more job searching!!

I have been to St. Kilda Beach and am starting to learn the city and the trams. The beach is not the nicest but it is very close, there is sand, sun and sea so what more could I want. It was 28 C yesterday and I will be returning to the beach to meet the girls I have met to do lots more sunning. (NOTE: with factor 30+) I still look very pale compared to everyone else so I think everyone knows I must be English!!

We have got to know some Aussie's through the boys playing cricket here and we had a BBQ yesterday! So free food and drink!! It was great. It is Australian Day today and had we been organised we could have booked to do something, however, I have only just surfaced, it is 13:30 so I think I will stick to the beach and we may go to a free live concert this afternoon.

Sadly I don't think I will make any of the Australian Tennis Open, however it has been huge over here, we have watched it on TV everyday and I hope to go to the arena to watch on the big screen tomorrow!! We are going out tonight to a club tonight to celebrate Australia Day, it will be mobbed with people but should be a good (and sweaty) night out! I hope everyone is well and when I have visited some exciting sights I will upload the photos and let you all know!!
