We woke up at 8:30am this morning and went through our normal routine, breakfast, cleared and packed up. It doesn't matter how many times Chris tells me, I still forget to lock all the cupboards before we drive off, it's surprising nothing has come flying out yet. Before we left we looked for the sites dump station, they didn't have one! We have no idea what the residents do with their waste, it's not like they have pipes leading out of their caravans.
We fed the pony one last time on our way out then got on the road towards Auckland again. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long before we saw a sign for a dump station. We think one of our pipes are clogged up because the water waste has started to come up from the shower! It only seems to happen when we're driving though.
As we drove down a lane we passed some fields, suddenly we noticed a horse lying down in one next to the road. I told Chris to stop so I could check on it, for some reason I thought something was wrong. Chris drove passed and said I could check on the way back.
Chris got out and spoke to a guy that was responsible for the dump station, he said we had to pay to use it so Chris said sod that and we drove off again. we stopped by the horse and it quickly got up, there was nothing wrong with the bloody thing, it was just being lazy! Chris was laughing at me when I got back in the van.
We carried on driving and soon enough came to another dump station, it was free like all the others so maybe the guy in the other place was just trying his luck. We arrived in Auckland at 1:30pm, at first it didn't look like a city, all we passed for ages were huge warehouses and factories. Then it was like driving through Tooting in Surrey, there were so many Indians! We pulled into the first petrol station we came to and the man behind the counter very kindly let Chris use his phone to ring his mates Ross and Joel, all the time I was stuck in the camper van waiting for him! Chris had taken the keys and left me in the van with it unlocked, I didn't want to chance leaving it with all our valuable stuff inside so waited for him for over half an hour freezing cold and bored! When I finally couldn't wait anymore I went inside to find him, he was sitting at a table using the iPad! Just then the phone rang, Joel had called back just before we were about to leave. Once they sorted out where they were meeting Chris passed the phone back to the guy behind the counter, he asked Chris where we were from and he told him London, then the guy shocked him by saying "It's a s*** hole there isn't it? Too many Indians"! The guy was indian himself! With no comment Chris thanked the guy for the phone again and we left.
We drove to Auckland's city water front but when we got there we were faced with one small problem, our camper van was so big we couldn't park it anywhere. It was so annoying passing all the small car spaces! We drove around in circles and in the end we had to give up, we rang Ross and arranged to meet somewhere else.
An hour later and we were finally sitting in a bar with a beer and rum and coke. It was really nice for Chris to catch up with Ross and we all watched a bit of rugby before heading towards Joel's house. On the way we stopped to pick up some booze and grabbed a burger in Burger Fuel. It was our first time and oh my god they were amazing! I loved how they had little cardboard cups to catch all the good stuff that usually falls out. They were so big we didn't think we would eat all of it but we did.
We got to Joel's at about 8:30pm. He had to stay in and look after the kids as his wife Mandy was already out drinking. So we stayed in and got pissed there. We all had a good laugh drinking and it was nice for Chris to catch up about home and rugby. In fact thats all they bloody talked about most of the time. Joel made me laugh when he said he calls his wife Hurricane Mandy, and I could see why when she got in later that night lol. She came storming in drunk and loud, it was quite funny! she joined us for a few more drinks before heading off to bed. The boys run out of beer so Joel got a bottle of whisky out. I knew it would be trouble then, Chris didn't stop and the boys got more and more drunk. I started sobering up so it was funny watching them. Finally at 4am we all went to bed, I knew someone was going to feel like crap in the morning and I was sure it wasn't going to be me this time lol.
