We were up early this morning and getting ready to leave the park when a few ducks came waddling over outside. They were really funny and extremely friendly so we gave them some bread. We held the bread up and they were jumping like dogs for it, I sat down and one climbed all over me! They weren't interested any more once the bread was gone and left as quick as they came. Seeing how fat they were it was obvious they work their way around the park getting what they can from tourists.
After playing with the ducks we finished getting ready to leave and drove around to the dump station. The ducks from earlier were in the road being fed by two little boys. The boys moved but the ducks wouldn't get out of the way so Chris was going to continue driving! I jumped out quickly and walked in front of the van to move them out the way just to make sure he didn't run them over. The boys dad was on the side laughing at me.
We finally left at 10am and drove to Picton where we caught the ferry across to Wellington. It was more expensive than we expected, $51 each and $208 for the camper van! There were two minivans packed with young rugby boys, they must of been on tour or on their way to a game in Wellington, they were cheering and singing and then had a competition to see which group could rock their van the most. It was quite funny to watch.
By half one we were on our way. It was a nice sunny day so we sat up on the top deck but after a couple of cold gusts of wind we were reminded it was winter and went back inside to warm up. The ferry took three hours and fifteen minutes before we finally arrived into Wellington.
We drove passed the rugby stadium then went to find a caravan park. It wasn't easy to find one, we were driving around in circles for ages! The signs weren't very clear and I didn't have a very good map. We finally found one just after 6pm called Capital Gateway Motor Inn, it was expensive but we didn't really have a choice and couldn't be bothered to drive around any more! By now it was dark and we were very hungry so we cooked some dinner. We felt a bit sorry for a couple staying in a tiny little van next to us, it was very cold outside, they must have been freezing! We were ok though, in our big cosy mansion lol.
After dinner we looked at a few things to do in Wellington, I fancy watching a show and Chris wants to see if we can get tickets to a rugby game. But after checking the schedules it doesn't look like we will be seeing either! We have arrived a couple of days late for the rugby and the next decent show isn't until next week and we can't afford to wait that long. Chris doesn't fancy going to the Te-Papa museum so it looks like we will be checking out tomorrow and moving on.
