Today we are mourning the passing of the days of the street crepe maker. After 4 days in Paris the only crepes we have found are in restaurants and even more to our dismay is the fact that they are pre-making and heating them up when you order them...what is this world coming to....
After a lazy morning we searched the internet for farmer's markets in the 7th Arrondisement and luckily found one that was a couple blocks away and open on Thursday. We spent a couple hours walking through rows of fresh fruits, veggies, cheeses, meat, fish, oils and olives, jewelry, soaps, toys, clothes and shoes. After a bite to eat and dropping off our purchases du jour we took the subway to Montmartre. Montmartre is above Paris and from there you have a wonderful view of the beauty and the massive size of the city. In addition Montmartre is the place where artists, both performing and visual, congregate and show there wares along the streets. The kids really enjoyed looking around at all the different people (artist or not).
Although it wasn't a long day it was tiring so we decided to have a picnic dinner at the coffee table in our apartment (furniture in France is often little and close to the ground and the furniture in our apartment is no exception), and consisted of some of our fresh buys from our morning visit to the farmers market (olives, cheese, sundried tomatoes, pickled garlic, bread, sausage, artichoke tapenade, baba ganoush and a couple glasses of white wine for the adults). Life is good!
