The Bailey Stewart Family and Linsey Yoas arrived in Paris yesterday morning. The flight was uneventful although the direct flight from Pittsburgh is not on as large a plane as you would expect when traversing the ocean. As a result when you hit turbulance it is very turbulent and the seats are very close together so after 7+ hours with our knees in our chest we were relieved to get out of the plane and stretch. The apartment we rented is a block away from the Eiffel Tower and we have a beautiful view from our windows. At night (the blog photo was taken from our bedroom window at midnight) they light up the tower and from 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm on the hour the lights twinkle. It is spectacular. We managed to stay up the day we arrived until about 8:30, which is good considering we had only 3-5 hours of sleep in the previous 48 hours (kids more than adults). A car picked us up on Monday, the 4th at 9:00 and we had a 3 hour car tour of the city. Unfortunately the driver was also the tour guide so his voice carried only across the front seat (Andrew was in the front seat so he got the best tour). We explored the Eiffel Tower area then took the Metro (subway) to the Champs Elysees. It was the first subway train ride for the kids which was great. After a stroll on the Champs Elysee we returned to the Metro to ride back to our apartment at 5:00 on a Monday afternoon. The kids got to experience the feel of sardines in a can on a warm afternoon (no air in the subway). We are having a great time! Au revoir for now!
