Hi everyone!
Thanks for all your mails and messages this week - I can read them but am having difficulty replying to anything - the vagaries of the Nepali communication system!
The Happy Home kids loved their day out in the jungle, bless them. As did we! The bus journey home was a bit nutso though... some very crazy driving!
Having had a couple of days off, we have knuckled down to proper teaching the rest of the week (today is our only day off). There's one volunteer in Sitamai with me - Chris (a physics graduate) - we do the teaching bit. Then at Happy Home there has been Marcia (a nurse) who left on Friday after a 10 week stay and now we have a new volunteer there for a couple of weeks, whose name I cannot spell but it's pronounced Sukan. People come and go all the time - Chris has done 7 weeks now and next week is his last. I move on to Pokhara on April 4th with my trek starting April 10th. Expect some regular blogging before I set off!
We had a rhino visitation last night, very exciting! We could hear them in the river, and almost by our gates, but couldn't see them. Then we had a massive thunderstorm.
As we've walked to school this week we've been watching the villagers planting their paddy fields. Backbreacking work in the blazing sun.
The village kids have given me a Nepali name, a goddess name apparently. Bagabharti is the closest spelling we can establish. The goddess of all things womenkind is the general explanation - will look her up in the pantheon of Hindu goddesses at some point with a better internet connection!
Mari - am all balanced, no worries!
Ant - love you matey, speak soon!
Mum - glad you remembered how to email me! Love you and Happy Mother's Day!
Dad - Thank you for chit chat, am bringing good curry recipes home
Vik - give the cats a cuddle from me!
Love to all xxxx
