Hi everyone,
This blog entry is being added by proxy - thanks to my brother Pete!
I'm in a posh little internet cafe at 2670m, in Chame. There's no road, 2 guest houses, 1 shop and the internet cafe - very cool! Also very pricy so I've emailed this entry to Pete as it's quicker...
Day 5 of the trek. It's wonderful. Scenery and mountains incredible. Loving the physical challenge, haven't felt there was anything I couldn't do yet although we've plenty of time yet! Total distance is 220k, we've done a quarter of it so far.
4 of us in the group, none of us had met before. we have 4 porters and a guide (Shanti). They are all great fun! As I'm displaying my usual grace and coordination, I've already been voted "Member of the group mostly likely to fall in, off or down something" having fallen in a glacial river within an hour of setting off on Day 1, and falling down a shale slope, ripping my favourite walking trousers and grazing my knee yesterday. Shanti thinks I'm permanently rungi tungi. The weather is getting colder at night now, and mornings are brisk but still blazing sunshine during the day. It's fabulous walking weather.
Eating lots of Daal Bhaat and drinking lots of ginger tea and mint tea. Haven't had Tibetan tea yet. Yak Valley in a couple of days so I'm looking forward to taking loads of pictures of yaks for Ant!
Cold showers less fun... but hey!
