Hi All!
Got shipped out of Kathmandu unexpectedly last Wednesday morning at 6.30. Not to Pokhara as expected, but to a tiny village in the Chitwan National Park called Ganganagar. It's on the edge of the Rapiti river, there are rhino, crocodiles, loads of birds, elephants and apparently, wild peacocks...
The project I'm with has built a school, an orphanage, a crocodile hatchery and various paths/bridges and viewpoints to encourage eco-tourism. I'm teaching in the school (7.30-8.30 am, 12-1 and 5-6) and between times helping out in the orphanage. It's 40 min walk to the nearest shop, then 1 hour bus from there to the nearest town with phones/internet etc. Plus the whole area has been on strike for 12 days...
The electric is still random too!
We are taking the orphans on a jungle safari tomorrow and there will be internet there so if you feel like saying hi I'll see it then! Otherwise next Saturday. Assuming no more strikes...
It's a truly amazing experience. Any tips on primary school teaching with no materials to non english speaking kids warmly welcomed!
