Another friday night in Newcastle library at least I am going out tomorrow to watch the liverpool V Man U game. On Saturday last week the group got taken to Nelson Bay for a a dolphin cruise, even though when we woke up it was raining and windy. After an hour drive past loads of flooded fields we eventually got there, and the weather was no better but the cruise was on. Another English volunteer was on the cruise so it was surprisingly nice to talk to her about England. On the dolphin ride we saw a grang total of zero dolphins, althouhg the captain pointed out there was lots of waves. In fact the wind and the rain was the best thing as it rocked the boat, and made the japanese girls scream.
Sunday didn't start off alot better as my body clock wakes me up at seven, so I thought I would watch Murray in the tennis, but it was raining in new york. So I decided to go for a swim but because it was fathers day it was closed (this blog is starting to sound like an adrian mole diary entry) In the afternoon the weather was fine so I took Anna, Helen, CoCo and the jap girls for a walk round newcastle as I have been here the longest. We eventually ended up in the brewery at the Harbour to watch a live band.
This week I have spent the week in the newcastle volunteer house. The house is very modern in a smart suburb, but it is lacking the character of the other places which we have stayed. I have to say with regret that it has been a bit boring as there is a Tv and everybody just sits round the idiot box.
This week I have mostly been working in the kitchen as none of the others can. One of the Belgians did tuna with peach, and then rice with mixed tomatoes. Even though the belgians do speak french they can't cook like but they do smell like them ( beo).
While working with the CVA we have been posted at Black neds bay at Lake Macquarie which I hate to say is another breath taking location. We catch a speed boat each day to the bay where we have been weeding. The weeding may sound boring, however you can really see it making a difference as the weeds are more like hedges. Although it only 20c it feels so much hotter next to the sand, but the rules state we can't go swimming because in the water there are blue ringed octopus whos sting can kill you in six minutes. As we are based in Newcastle the group has been working with alot of local voluteers, which has been fun as they enjoy giving banter, talking to ex pats and everyone has told me some really good places to go. And On Wednesday we worked in a school, which was odd just seeing how small all the chairs and tables I use to sit at. Now heading back to the house to make pancakes. Tomorrow the beach 28c
