Gday, what a crazy night, I was in bed for 8:30 as I was knackered of a week playing UNO every night, and pissed watching the rugby, in a live game they have three sets of adverts during the actual game. I got up early toady and even at 8 in the morning the sun is shining bright, everyone is out and about and the cafe's are already filling up.
Last saturday was also glorious in the morning I got a few jobs, hair cut and to exchange some books. Then it was off to the beach to enjoy the 30 degree sunshine. What a shock when I got to the beach when it wasn't overcrowded but ot my surprise I was not the person with the worst tan the ozzies are whiter then me, and alot of them sunburnt. I decided to keep quite covered up and went swimming with my t-shirt on, which kind of helped me to stay a little warmer in the the water, or was it the fact that it was that cold everythong went numb. On the evening the group went to the pub, and I watched the football I was one of 5 people watching the game. Then after that I headed upstairs to meet the others in a kind of nightclub and drank vodka fire engines.
Sunday was a bit of a non starter as the weather was overcast and everyone was tired. We eventually got ourselves out of the bed, and we headed for a walk to nobbies point, and at that point we saw some dolphins, but as usual when ever we see something I leave my camera at home (wildlife pics are not off my camera).
On monday the group headed off to the sleepy seaside town of Harrington. The group had 2 belgians (still smelling) and four Germans who were very efficient workers, and I didn't mention the war once. We stayed in kabins on a caravan site were you couldn't walk as far as the toilet without getting in conversation with old residents. As I said Harrington is a sleepy seaside town, the social epicentre is the bowling club accross the road which has a bus to take you back, but it did have cheap lager.
The group worked at cattai creek, which is a kind of wetland/ bush. We worked for two old guys who kind of reminded me of burt and earnie, they were a really good laugh even though they called me a pommie quite a bit. On the first two days we caught a boat to work in brown water. On these two days we were killing a weed called morning glory. And in these two days I saw the first of this weeks snake spottings, I saw red belly back snake then on friday bob put his fork through one, I would say they were about 2 metres long, personally I thought I would have been more scared. For the remainder of the week we help to construct a path for a new nature trial.
On the evenings our team leader took us to the North brothers which had some amazing views, and on the final night we went to crowdy bay and had bbq prawns while watching the sunset and waiting for the lighthouse.
Now I am off to catch the bus to Sydney
