Today was our day of freedom away from the zoo
So we thought we would have a leisurly day and go visit a cool temple.
I also took my moped back this morning, I hate bumbblebee :/
So I got on the back of James's instead, the ride was cool and we saw some weird grave things at the side of the road (pictures in the album!)
The temple was called Wat Bam Tham and the entrance was a big dragon's mouth, awesome!
Apart from we thought would be a leisurly day turned into about 10 thousand step hike up a mountain. . .
The first lot of steps went down into a temple cave - Which was like the Bat Cave! There was a massive gold buddha at the end. We brought some incense sticks to 'give to the buddha' not actually having a real clue what we were doing and not necessarely caring for the Buddha in anyway. After all it is just a statue thing.
So after making the batcave smell nice we carried on up the steps (stopping to buy some water... much needed)
Along the way we encounted a bee... well many bees but they are as big as pigeons, no lie they are massive. And the steps we were climbing weren't really like steps it was just more like rock climbing, so I had nowhere to run from the bees! I also saw a butterfly (I really super hate butterflys) and that was as big as a seagull, I actually thought it was a bird when I first saw it fly infront of me. This may sound lovely to nature freaks but to me, not so much.
We got half way up and had a little rest in one of the monks little balconys. They have hundreds of bottles M-150 for those of you who havent been to Thailand, apparantly this place is hot on drugs but there more than willing to sell a drink with anphetamine in & apparantly these monks live of the stuff! Naughty monks...
We also found a bottle of peroxide...
After another rock climbing session we reached the top and the views were awesome (as you will see from the pictures) Well worth the very sweaty and emotional climb.
The way back down felt like we had just done a massive leg session and legs had literally turn to jelly!
And that was the end of our not so leisurley day
We're staying in a lovely guesthouse called Apples retreat for the next few nights.
