We had a flight to catch today from Ho Chi Minh to Bangkok, it wasn't until 1pm so we didn't have to leave the hostel until 11am which was quite nice! We got a taxi to the airport and he was rushing to get us there as we actually realised we should have maybe left abit early because of all the traffic in the city, oops! But he was awesome and we made it on time :))
Once we landed in Bangkok we had to transfer to the other side of the city to there other airport (i literally cannot remember what its called) but the airport runs a free shuttle bus from one to the other so this is always handy! It is however quite difficult to find once you land..
We had to ask several people but found it in the most obvious place in the end, standard!
The journey said it could take from 45 minutes up to 2 hours depending on traffic!!
We landed about 2.30pm and our next flight wasn't until 6.55pm so we had plenty of time… so we thought!
It took about 1 1/2 to get there in the end because just our luck the traffic was quite bad but we thought, thats still ok because we still have an hour to check in. Weren't we wrong!!
We flew with Lion Air… DO NOT FLY WITH THESE PEOPLE!!
The queue to check in was about 1 mile long and this is no word of a lie it was RIDICULOUS & Thai people unfortunately do not know who to queue or be polite (this dosent go for everyone but it does go for every single person in the airpot) It was 1/2 before we were supposed to be flying and we still weren't anywhere near the check in so me & James resorted to playing dirty…
James carried the bags whilst i pushed in front of everyone, kicking a few peoples shins along the way and we finally made it to the counter!
Only to find out we had to pay £30 for heavy luggage! There limit was 15kg and both our bags came to 35kg… SO ANGRY. Not only did we have to queue for 2 hours we now have to pay for the privilege of queueing because your culture dosent have a bloody clue!!
Luckily on the the other side of the gate was a McDonalds and a subway… we had 10 minutes to get from here to our gate but we thought you know what, the flight can wait for us thank you very much!! haha So i went to subway, James went to McDonalds and we both just sat on the floor in protest and ate our food leisurely!
We did strike lucky with the seats, as we had a pair of seats that were just 2 together so we had no other sweaty bodies invading our space!
We landed in a place called Surat Thani this is like a stop over place for visiting the islands. Luckily i had arranged us a taxi which is exactly what we needed after that trauma! There was a little man waiting for us with a sign, easy peasy lemon squeezy. After popping to the 7/11 next door to stock up on Mountain Dew we were straight to sleep!
