So after working in Melbourne for 5 months or so its finally time for us to move on- happy and sad faces!!! We have had a blast here, done some amazing things, worked hard, spent too much money and made some wonderful friends for life. We both had our birthdays here- unfortunately Phils parcel got stolen from outside our building but mine arrived which was the most important thing ;-) I was lucky enough to go to Gordon Ramseys restaurant and Mary Poppins for mine which were both fantastic!!
Really pleased we have had the opportunity to explore Melbourne and really get a feel for life in a big city in a blooming big country. Phil has turned into a book of knowledge and facts- anything you need to know he know the answers! Brilliant to see him loving the experience just as much as me. Although he’s missing going to Hull City matches he has jumped straight into being a Essendon / St Kilda AFL supporter so that keeps his footy hobbie going Although we had to save up our money here in Melbourne we have made sure we have done lots of exciting things as well. Its amazing that we have managed to save the same amount of money here in 5 months as we did at home in 18 months!!!! Crazy!
So the Wdowikowskis arrived into Melbourne on 28th August- that was emotional but so lovely to see a familiar face!! They stayed in a lovely apartment just up the road from us in St Kilda- I tried to convince them that me staying in the bed with them would work out fine but there was no hope! It was just nice being a room where you can take your shoes off and not worry what your walking in haha. On their first day we showed them around St Kilda and I think they were a bit overwhelmed- couldn’t believe they were with us at the OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!!! It was a bit strange. They definitely brought the nice weather with them so for the next couple of days we showed them the city, going up the tower to see the amazing views, river cruises, searching for the famous Melbourne art laneways and lots of nice meals out. Then we took them on the Great Ocean Road for two days where we saw Whales, Koalas, Hawks and much much more- thank god no spiders and snakes. I was winding up Tricia and she daren’t even go in the shower because she was worried one would get her haha!! I’m so mean. It would have been lovely to have the Scotts here as well but maybe next time. We had a lovely drive back to Melbourne to start packing our backpacks- wasn’t so easy this time!
So we jumped on a flight to the Gold Coast to hit the warmer weather……………. About time! Never thought Melbourne would be so cold- ive left the uggs and big jackets behind!
Until next time……..
