Well Europe is interesting. I am wondering every day why the Euro is beating the dollar. It is some kind of stupid holiday and everything is closed! It is a celebration of wood or something ridiculous like that. We were unable to get into the embassy but the cool thing was that security was going to let us in anyways, because they thought we were mechanics. After my failure we decided to make a day out of it, even though it was raining. By the way they only get rain 3 days a year, so the rain IS still following us. In one afternoon we saw everything in Athens except for the museums. We figured out the public transportation and we went to the docks to see about ferries to the islands. We also figured out when they want us to tip. We have usually been tipping a little at each place but we just ordered a sandwich and didn't feel the need to tip. He came back with change in smaller amounts than what could have been brought. So when they saw me put my money in my pocket they tightened up the awning we were sitting under and poured about 20 gallons of water right beside us. This leads me to my next point.
The people in Athens are pretty rude and impatient. They also drive like nuts, well everyone so far has driven like nuts. There is an especially high proportion of scooters and motor bikes here though which makes crossing the streets trecherous. We didn't have some people approach us and talk with us, but for the most part people seemed put off by us. Oh well, maybe they caught a bad case of French. After the ferries we went back to the hostel and crashed.
