Travels 2012
- DON'T think you're unbeatable on a bike.
- DON'T think you're unbeatable from the sun on a bike- your feet will get burnt!
- DO wear suncream even though a kid says 'you're soo white the sun bounces off of you'! You'll sizzle.
- DON'T flip flop around the market you'll end up covered in fish and frog guts (along with the rest).
- DON'T even go in if you're squeemish-so far I've seen a frog, fish, chicks, chicken and insect heads chopped off (and that's with me trying not to look.
- NO bums or tums-you will be mistaken for a lady of the night (not a personal experience I promise, just purely visual).
- DO accept that it will take a year to find a guesthouse- everytime i phone up to confirm the room i'm meant to be looking around they reply with 'that room has now been taken'....I may as well just book online.
- DO take malaria tablets on a full stomache- you will feel sick otherwise.
- DO always make sure you have more than 6 imodium tablets with you...In Asia you will need the lot!
- DO smile and good things will come your way-Just not to creepy officers who then decide to propose to you!
- DO wear mozzie protection-You'll get eaten alive!
- DO accept that by the time you're out of the shower you will feel like you need another.
- DO accept that the water is not always avaliable when you want it....like for showering.
- DO go to local pub quizes-you may win a clay making class for two like me :).
- DO realise that EVERYTHING comes with chilli sauce.
- DO turn veggie...it might be dog (although im told dog is expensive).
- (close your eyes lads) DO bring tampons-theres no such thing here and if you do find some they are not like the ones we get at home.
- DO get a tuk tuk at night- you won't be able to find where you've parked your bike when you want to go home.
- DON'T speak Khmer unless you have the right pronounciation-they will not understand if said slightly differently-I'll just stick to hello, please, sorry and thank you until they know Im not a weekend traveller.
- DO live life to the full-you may never get another chance.
That's all for now :)
