So having visited a number of large asian cities we decided to get away from the smells, noise and fellow backpackers by getting a boneshaker of a bus to the small crumbling french colonial town of Kampot on the south coast of Cambodia. The heat and way of like in this part of the world makes the town feel very sleepy and laid back, which is great to experience and we have quickly taken to drinking happy hour cocktails whilst watching the sun go down. There a quite a few french and australian ex pats here and we can see why.
So far we have we have been for a trek in the local national park reserve, looked around some abandoned french ruins and enjoyed a riverboat cruise to to a remote stretch of beach to watch the sun go down. All been fantastic and interesting so far, still got a few more days here to do more trekking in the numerous national parks.
