Having spent 4 hours on a bumpy winding bus we eventually arrived in Vang Vieng in northern Laos, the place is very beautiful set in a valley of huge limestone crags and is famous for the tubing down the river in a tractor tyre inner tube. We arrived in Vientiane after getting another overnight bus up from Pakse, which ended up being a nearly 9 hour marathon of 90's soft rock which should have stayed in the 90's! There isn't a lot to see here but the atmosphere is relaxed and there are plenty of amazing restaurants which we're making the most of.
