This stupid crappy computer has just bumped me off explorer, so I´m writing this for the second time. Argh!
San Blas! I love this place, wish I could have stayed here for longer. AFter a 4 hour comfy bus journey to Tepic, then a 3 hour windy neverending second class one to san blas, we arrived there about 9. the square was buzzing, a band and everything, many food stalls and market beady things floating around. we trekked for a hotel, managed to find one with a rescued pet pelican living in the courtyard, had some tea, then we all passed out cos we were knackered from doing nothing all day (and maybe a bit from the night before).
In the morning, after a yummy breakfast on deckcharis in the courtyard of bimbo bread jam and orange juice (made the most of the kitchen facilities) we taxied to a JUNGLE boat tour thing! woo. It was about a fiver for the trip, refresco or beer included, up a river in a little boat through what we thought was rather tame jungle, crocodile spotting and iguana spotting on the way. we stopped off at a cocodrilero to see where they raise crocodiles or whatever they did there, jumped a bit when the growled (they were HUGE), and then got back on the boat to a bit in the river where you could swim. Yes, I have swum in a crocodile infested river. Just like the one in thunderbirds (although my reference was wasted on lizzieangiesarahandkerry).
There was a swing to jump in off and everything.
After an hour or so, we got a boat back, driven by a guy who was slightly too agressive going round the corners (we think it had something to do with the fact he had five charming young ladies in his boat judging by the gestures he made to his mates when we got in)
After that, we walked down the road to the beach! It was dead nice, the surf wasn't too deadly, we sat and had some seafood in one of the beachside plastic chair cafe type things, top notch fish and prawn cocktails, and then we attempted to do a bit of sunbathing, but it got cloudy and we were really cold, so we walked back, ate some amazing banana bread thing which had just come out of the oven off a street stall, and hitched a lift in the back of a really crazy bus. I think also a quad bike was involved...
We then showered and went out for a wander in the zocalo, a really ace band was playing, loads of people dancing, and we had some fat tortas and browsed the market stalls, before entering into deep conversation about the town's easter celebrations with a guy who owns a burger stand, and getting give wristbands for a club which we never went to , cos we were all shattered, and fell asleep.
Next morning, we packed up and dumped our rucksacks by the hotel desk, and then walked to another beach. This one was way nicer. The sand went out for quite away, so we didn't get drowned by the waves. After about 2 hours though, it got really windy, and the sand was blowing everywhere, so we called it a day and went back to the centre to catch a bus to Puerto Vallerta. We got there about 8ish (I think) and that´s where the american fun began...
