Well, there isn´t as yet a piccy for oaxaca, mainly because I really couldn´t be bothered to dig in my rucksack for the camera lead. I´ll do it in a couple of days.
Anyway, after a delightful 6 hour bus ride in the middle of the night to Oaxaca, and then a sleepy taxi journey to the youth hostel (at least the driver waited for me to get in the door before he drove off). I had a sleep in the morning, and set off to have a look round Oaxaca. City of chocolate and Mezcal.
Did the traditional church and museum thing. Boring. Had a coffe in a cafe when the agua came (they say, el agua viene, when it´s about to rain. the water is coming sounds very dramatic, but trust me, it is an accurate description. A small child could surf on the steeper streets.) Then got in touch with Ed and his american mate Dan, and we went for a torta and a look round the posher market, which was cool.
A bit later, I headed back to the hostel, and I walked into the room and Sarah and Angie were there! On the phone to Ed! what a bizarre coincidence. So we all went to see some random traditional local dance show, which was pretty cool, before heading to a bar were a guy was playing ace guitar. He was dead good.
This morning, we headed up to Monte Alban to see the ruins up there, made friends with the taxi driver, and he took us to a good place to eat for lunch, and nattered away to us about every possible thing he could think to tell us about Oaxaca.
And then... wow. Is that all I´ve written? Not much at all. It seems like I´ve done loads. Off on a tour of a few of the villages and to see a big tree and a waterfall tomorrow morning. A big tree. Lol, that sounds really boring. But it really is a really big tree!!!!!!
Then off to the beach to tan a little bit.
