So after being kept up by a certain young man sleeping on our sofa and having been called by another young man at midnight telling me that riding your bike on NYE is not a good idea when drunk...I'm feeling pretty sleepy!
So thursday 3rd, we got up early to go to IEP and get our cheap Wildlife world and Aquarium tickets. Only cost $16 each rather than the 30 it would have cost if we'd have gone straight there. The aquarium was awesome with massive sharks and seals and wildlife world was awesome too with koalas and kangaroos. WE even touched a red bearded dragon! Afer the day was over we went to the Lindt chocolate cafe which was awesome. I had a hot chocolate and the most amazing piece of chocolate cake ever! (it should have been for nearly $11 a slice!!) on saturday night, I went to Home nightclub in Darling Harbour with Evan and Rich which was awesome. First time I;ve been out without the girls which was different but cool!
On monday 7th, we had an extremely expensive day. we paid the rent, we booked our bridge climb ($189) and we boooked our car!! Yes, our ford falcon!! we eventually decided that we wanted to go on a road trip for dunks and hallas' birthdays. Were heading down to melbourne via canberra and stopping off at some little bay and towns on the way which will be amazing, were all so excited. Its been expensive and hard to sort out but will be fun. I can't drive which isn't cool because I havent had my licence for a year but I'm now the falcon navigator which is slightly worrying. I was going to keep it to myself how bad I am at map reading but I think the girls will find out only too soon when we head off tomorrow! we leave tomorrow and will hopefully arrive in melbourne on 25th jan just in time to start some fruit picking!
on monday night, Rich's last night, we decided to go to Circular Quay and go to -5degree bar. Its basically a bar made out of ice and ice sculptures. We were'nt allowed to take photos but we paid for professional ones to be taken. We were given massive big coats and snow boots which was good because the bar was actually -17deg!!!!!! we were given our first drink free which was served in ice glasses which we had to hold with 2 hands becuse they were so slippy! We were only allowed in there for 30 mins aswell because its soo dangerous to stay in there any longer!
Wednesday 9th Jan- This was probably the best day I've had in Oz so far. Evan our aussie friend picked us all up early and we all headed towards palm beach. Thats summer bay, where they film Home and Away! The road trip was pretty cool and we had some good tunes going! We arrived first at Whale Beach where the sand was really really orange and really hot. We headed further down in the car and we arrived in Summer Bay. we had our photo taken by the surf club sign (with proprieter name, A, Stewart!) and took some photos of the bar. After lunch, we stumbled across a bay that was literally empty. we stood there looking in awe at the place. There were massive hazy green mountains all around us, clear, still, blue water and a sandy beach with no-one on it. It looked so surreal but was amazing. All afternoon, we just sunbathed amd had a swim. There were tiny little fish swimming all around us and we even saw a baby stingray. The water was so clear and shallow that we all just got a bit crazy and just got naked! It started off with just taking our tops off, then we just took everything off! this was me, hallas, grego and fowler. We had lots of funny naked photos taken. It was just an awesome day and such an unexpected surprise to stumble across such a breathtaking little bay like that. we can't wait to stumble across some more.
Thursday 10th Jan- So another day and another road trip with Evan. We were heading towards the blue mountains. The weather was again very hot like yesterday, 28deg C. It took us an hour and a half to get there. We headed first to Granny Evans house!!!!! she was expecting us and had made scones with jam and cream and choc chip biscuits! Dorothy is s proper fair dinkum aussie and her house smelt like a real old lady house, it was awesome!! Granny Evan even showed us some old photos of when she went to Ayers Rock and rode a camel! We headed over to the Blue Mountains where we parked at Echo point, walked to the Vistors centre and had our picture taken with a real life Aboriginal called Ullarularula!! We took lots of photos of the three sisters and the blue mountains which are called the blue mountains becuse of the haze that made by the droplets of oil from the gum trees! (eucalyptus trees!) we took the scenic walk through the rainforest and down the steepest steps ever to reach a tiny, rickety bridge that led to one of the three sister rocks so you could touch it. My legs were shaking so much becuse we were so high up but with Hallas' help I made it across the bridge and touched one of the three sisters to make it official. We climbed back up and decided to take a cable acr ride to one of the other mountains. (known as the death car!!) It cost $16 for a return journey. At the steepest part it was 330m from where we were in the cable car to the floor. A freefall drop of about 5seconds. Again, a brilliant day.
Friday 11th Jan- We had to get up at 4.45am to get the bus into sydney to do our bridge climb!!! it took about an hour for us all to be kitted out in all the safety equipment and we ran through all the safety tips etc. We also went on a simulatir to show us what it was going to fell like at the top of the bridge and I was terrified on that! The bridge climb itself was scary. I think the scariest part was actaully getting to the bridge itself from where the training room was. we had to walk over these two wooden planks of wood with a massive gap between them. Think over walking on a pier about 10 times higher and over concrete and you'll get some idea of the trauma that I had to go through that day! we then had to climb up the steps to get to the main arch of the bridge that were almost vertical and again probably the scariest bit of the climb. The climb up the arch itself was no problem at all beacuse we were walking on the main steel girder that was really wide and you couldn't see through the bottom of it! We stopped a few times up so the leader could tell us a bit about the history of how the bridge was made and so we could look at the sights. Reaching the top was pretty amazing, you could see for thousands of k's. We had a group picture taken and started the descent back to the base. The whole experience was unreal and I'm so glad I did it! it scared me half to death but I still don't think I've reached my absolute limit on what I can do. I'm still determined that I'm going to throw myself out of a plane and were thinking of doing white water rafting soon, on the way to melbourne actaully. the possibilities are endless!!
Anyway, I've got to shoot, I've got packing to do before we leave to go to melbourne tomorrow! Bye bye Bondi! xxxxxxxxxx
