HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
it is the first of January right now but I'll start with whats been happening over the past week! we've done so much as a group this week which has been lovely. We haven't got much time left together seeing as we move out of our flat in 2 weeks so were trying to cram in as much as possible!
ON saturday 29th, we bought a cricket set and took it to Centennial park which is about 5 minutes the other side of Bondi Junction. Its this massive parkland area where they sometimes have big outdoor festivals. You can also hire bikes and go horse riding here aswell. We were at the park all afternoon playing cricket and frisbee and having loads of fun! It was so hot aswell, it was beautiful. After we left we decided to make the most of the weather and have a BBQ on the roof, so we stopped at Coles to grab some meat and some beer. The BBQ was awesome and we sat on the roof until the sun went down and we'd eaten all the snags and marshmallows!
On sunday 30th, we headed to Coogee beach. We jumped on the beach runner bus and headed to Coogee for 80C and headed to Coogee via all the little coves and bays in between (Tamarama and Bronte Beach). I think we sat on the beach for about half and hour and it was so hot we had to leave. The sand was so hot u actually could'nt stand on it, crazy!! It must have been 31/32 deg plus. Melbourne hit a high today of 41degC- the hottest new years day/eve on record.
So new years eve, we planned to leave the flat at 1pm so we could get a good spot for the fireworks. We packed a massive picnic and some blankets and headed off on the bus to Circular Quay near the opera house. After a lot of walking we reached Mrs. Maquaries point where we were going to set up. We reached the point after about 45 mins of queuing and 30 mins of queuing so we could get a pink wristband (so we could buy alcohol!) when we reached the park, the place was rammed with literally thousnads of people. We sat for hours in the 28degC plus sun to wait for the first set of fireworks, the family fireworks which started at 9pm. They were awesome! But there were also 22, 000 people pushing so they could get to the front to see. We moved places a few times so we could get the best spot for the midnight fireworks. At 11pm we moved down to the front of the crowds by the water and waited for the countdown. I filmed the whole 12 minutes of it and it was absolutely breathtaking. There are no words to describe it really! So unreal and I felt so proud of myself that I had achieved this. Everyone clapped and cheered once they were over and then we headed on the free bus home. Groove Armada were playing a gig on the beach so we headed down there and it was absolute carnage! awesome, awesome night xxxx
