We arrived in Trang on a local bus, jumped in one of there funny looking tuk Tuks which felt as though it was going to roll on every corner. We stayed in a really cheap and basic hotel for the night that cost us £3 for the room! That night we explored the night markets, tasting different foods and doing the odd bit of shopping.
The following day we took the boat to the island of Ko Mook. We were picked up from the pier in a motorbike side carriage and taken to our bungalow on the other side of the island. The bungalows were spread out within a jungly garden set just back from the beach. They had lots of dogs, we soon took one on as our pet, we named her leafy as she always carried a leaf in her mouth. She would follow us everywhere.
There was one restaurant to eat at and the women who owned it was really loud and funny and made great food.
The beach was deserted, we had it pretty much all to ourselves until we met some Canadians and a Brit, who we later sat around and made a bonfire under the stars. The next day we hired a boat to take us and the others to the emerald cave. You had to swim through a pitch black cave with only half a meter above your head in places. But it was all worth it when we came out to a secluded beach in the middle of the cave, it's where pirates used to hide there treasure.
We left the island to head to Malaysia. d*** managed to fall down the slippery steps into the sea whilst climbing off the boat! His pride was more damaged than his body even though he was covered in blood and mukky sludge. A Frenchman and a Thai lady were soon to the rescue, assisting him with medical treatment and bandaging him up.
P.s Richard is now a changed man finding tomatoes and salads delicious and not only eating seafood and fish but ordering it for his dinner! Not only that but he has read a 472 page book, never before has this happened!
