Arrived in Ko phangan after a mammoth journey of 38 hours, taking a train, a minivan, a cargo ship and a scooter! We spent our first night in Mae haad on a lovely beach but a bit too pricey for us so the following day we hired a scooter to search for cheaper options. We found a lovely spot called benjamins hut on a different beach called Chau phau, the people were friendly, and the food was amazing. We soon got attached and decided we would make this our final holiday within the holiday and stayed put for 9 days.
From our base we explored the island on moped, we attempted to visit all the beaches on the island however failed a couple due to poor road conditions and lack of power/breaks/sticky throttle of our many mopeds! One day we trekked through the jungle to a secluded beach which resulted in a very sweaty walk but were soon rewarded with the white sands and clear ocean. We went to a half moon party in the jungle with a couple from Switzerland as well as treating ourselves to some great meals out, including some English pub grub, seafood BBQ and an Italian steak restaurant. We also found our selves a great local drinking spot called Charlie's bar. It was an amazing building on 4 levels built around a tree that had reggae jam sessions on an evening. Another breath taking place was the Amsterdam bar positioned at the top of a mountain with 180 degree views where we would watch the sun set over a beer or 2. Our time here soon flew by I before we new it we were back on the boat, next stop Bangkok.
