Well the bus was so difficult to sleep on as it wasn't that comfortable plus what made it worse was the fact that there was hardly any straight road- it felt like the driver was going round a continuous 'S' shape, it was just bend after bend after bend making me feel quite sick. I slept on and off and woke up at 6.30 this morning to a beautiful sunrise. We stopped off for breakfast around 8.30 and I was surprised at how quickly the journey seemed to be going.
Towards the last leg I saw some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen- bright yellow and green tree covered mountains, beautiful lakes and mountains where the peaks were covered in snow, streams and water running down the rocks through the trees. Absolutely breath-taking. We turned a corner and at one point the scene gave me goose pimples!
However, after 630 miles of tree covered mountains, and 22 hours of travelling all I wanted was a hot shower and a comfortable bed- my body is still in agony from Monkido yesterday- my hands from holding the ropes and wires, and my stomach from using all my muscles on the course. I feel like I've done a thousand sit-ups!
We didn't even book this hostel due to the mix up etc so we had no idea what we would be arriving to!
When we got off the Greyhound it looked like we were in the middle of nowhere- we rang the hostel and they gave us directions but it would have meant a fairly long walk with our bags and another bus journey and we were so knackered that we decided to get a taxi for under 9 dollars.
The hostel is the HI-Banff Alpine and is actually one of the original ones we looked into staying at which was a positive. It is more social (the place in Vancouver was more like a guesthouse with long term guests that worked) there is a bar downstairs and just has much more people around. We haven't had the chance to explore fully yet.
Hot shower and then I'm ready for bed!
