Hello everyone.
Sorry about my late blog update. It is normally up before now. Like i said before in my previous blog the house is really busy at the moment because 7 volunteers are taking part in the Tam Ky program this month. I cannot believe we are over half way through the 3rd week already.
Baby orphanage is going well at the moment. Don't get me wrong the kids are really hard work at times, the babies are even harder but overall they are all well behaved kids who really don't have anything. Each day we go to the baby orphanage we do a different activity. On Mondays when we visit it is music, on Tuesday it is sports, on Wednesday it is crafts and on Friday it is dressing up. I am in charge of sports this month with Randall. Last week we had 'Roger' races (an inflatable animal that the kids jump with). There were a few wipeouts and some foul play by Loc. But the kids had a great time which was the main thing.
Home of Affection went much better than last week. I said in the last blog that we had started a new book and kids weren't really interested in it. We are now a few lessons into the book and the kids are far more confident that they can do the work. Also i have bought them some colouring books because they are very young, so to try and teach them for any length of time is difficult. I am please with the progress my class is making, particularly the boys Luu and Huy.
With Tam Thanh last week i was alot happier than the week before because i had my old class back. They are older kids and i have now taught them a bit so they are starting to get used to me, my way of teaching and the way my lessons are structured.
As the weeks go on i am really finding (particularly towards the end of each week) that i am get very mentally and physically drained (i know parents before you message me at all that more sleep helps). But the weeks are very demanding and i am sometimes clad when it is the weekend.
This weekend i am going to Bach Ma National Park (www.bachma.vnn.vn). It is located about 130km (3 to 4 hours drive) north of Tam Ky. I am going there with 11 other volunteers. There is a nice 16km walk (to the summit) when you arrive at the national park gates. Some people get jeeps up but i think i will walk it. It really does look amazing and i cannot wait. I will let you all know how it goes.
I hope people are all good. Speak soon.
