Our time in Geraldton has come to a close and we are now ready to hit the road again and head north. We've really enjoyed the sights and hospitality of this lovely city - the relaxed atmosphere of the foreshore, a trip east to the town of Mullewa, a drive north through the Chapman Valley to Northampton and the seaside villages of Port Gregory and Horrocks, as well as bumping over a sandy 4wd track along the coast.
This area has many historic church buildings designed and built by an amazing priest who was also an architect, John Hawes. Port Gregory, on the coast has an unusual 'pink' lake which gets its colour from the excessive amounts of a particular bacteria which releases beta-carotene, giving the water its pink colour (a bit smelly too).
This past week has seen some quite stormy weather inbetween rain and sunshine. A P&O cruise ship also came into the harbour which was a nice sight to see.
On the 9th of April we celebrated our one year on the road, living 24 hours a day together in the caravan! Thankfully, God has blessed us with good health (although I've had my first viral infection here), no problems with the car or van and learning a lot about each other and this wonderful country we are priveleged to live in!
