Zoe and Ed's Travels
We sadly left Dalhousie, and the bus journey to Dharamsala was equally as dramatic as the one to Dalhousie. Once I had taken the motion sickness tablet I almost enjoyed the way the bus sped down the hills and round hairpins without aid of the brakes. Still, we got here safely, and found a place to stay. It's not quite as cold here, but still chilly. Our room is surprisingly warm despite having no heating. We are now 1770m above sea level, so still feel the need to relax and eat lots of cake to ward off any possible effects of the altitude (they say chocolate cake is particularly good for this, but we intend to experiment with many different varieties).
We have been amazed at the prices of the Thangkas here - hand painted by monks who must be getting very rich as the paintings of Buddhist figures cost between 40 and 500 pounds. Hmm, might wait 'till Thailand for our Buddhist souvenirs.
Haven't seen much yet: the picture of the Dalai Lama may be slightly misleading. Ed was all for Photoshopping us onto the picture, but I resisted. We are just getting our bearings, so will report more later.
