Today we went for a trek around Shinjuku, Tokyo. It's the Japan I'd been imagining - flashing neon adverts on giant screens, shouting and singing Japanese, hundreds of people crossing roads, giant skyscrapers and goths dressed up as Alice in Wonderland!
We saw a big shrine and went into giant department stores with loads of designer gear we couldn't afford - including a bookshop that was nine stories high (my heaven). We also walked through the Red Light District, which wasn't all that seedy - though this was the daytime, so it might just be because of that...!
Later we watched a dance show and went in two of the tallest buildings, the highest of which was 45 stories, over 1000m! On the way back we saw a rabbit on the train.
We're on the hunt for pandas, as you might see in our photos. They're everywhere! And I'm getting better at using chopsticks too, since I like to think the alternative is not eating :p
