Mikahla's Adventures Abroad
I have gotten into a rhoutine here. I have a life in Spain and it consists of school, studying, and going to the gym. Eating and occasional sleeping fits in there somewhere. It doesnt look like much, but it makes a surprisingly full day. That might be because I walk everywhere and that takes up time, especially because I don't like to go the same way twice. I wind my way around the city finding rincones - nooks, secret little places that are often missed. I like to find them. I want to know this city and not just as a tourist. I walk the streets and watch the people and generaly have a grand old time! I always carry a small moleskine notebook around with me wherever I go. Here are some of the entries from the last few days:~I thought I could stay away from the world of coffee, but I was wrong. The smell of coffee and the illusion that it makes studying easier eventually lured me in and I have had coffee almost everyday this week. Mostly I just read(Harry Potter - in Spanish:)-and then I don't sleep. But who needs sleep when there's coffee? ~Coffee is supposed to give you enough energy to concentrate and get work done, but I think in my case it gives me too much energy to concentrate on just one thing at a time. My mind goes everywhere at once and I don't get anything done.~I swear the 80s have returned to haunt me. I am sitting in a cafe listening to gangsters paradise on the radio and watching a girl outside the window with a mullet and leggins walk by playing with a slinky. It's like sitting in a memory I don't have-I was too young to really remember the 80s, but I remember the styles and the toys because I had both well in to the 21st century.~I came to a coffee shop to study Spanish and all I hear around me is English. The problem is that I came to Starbucks. It's like a bright light for foreign bugs, an international meeting spot, an American embassy with comfy chairs and coffee. I met an Australian and an Brit and we had a good time talking about fat kids, the rat race, and over medication. It was an hour long accent ambrosia.~The people here smoke like it's a sport, and they take it pretty seriously. I'd say it rivals footbol. (football in Europe=soccer for all you Yanks:)
All for now, M.E.P.S. I got a B on my test:) - it was one of the best grades in the class. It turns out my new new teacher is a pretty tough grader.
