Mikahla's Adventures Abroad
I stopped by the library on the way home from school, as I often do, but today was the first day I made it past the reading room! The reading room is filled with newspapers and magazines on shelves along the walls and there are chairs(fairly comfortable chairs) in the middle. There is enough in that room to keep me busy with my dictionary for a year, and it did hold my interest for just over a week, but today I moved on to the second floor where all the books are. The building is beautiful with glass and wood and polished steel. There is a spiraling staircase and windows everywhere! I walked around for probably half of an hour trying to get a feel for where things are. They have plenty of computers for using the internet and also for electronic catalogs of the books. There are CDs, records, videos, and plenty of books! I was in heaven. I found some fun books in the linguistics section and sat down with three of them to read bits and pieces. I actually understood most of it and only had to look up a few words. It was really interesting. I read a bit about linguistics, a bit about psychology, a bit about the philosophy of religion, and a bit about more light topics like excercies, rock climbing, white water rafting in Spain, and guides for Africa and the Zambezi River(if you've spoken with me since summer you will understand why the Zambezi - if you don't, ask me). All in all I had a great time! It has been pouring rain all morning and afternoon with thunder and lightening, but it stopped during my last class and I walked home in the sunshine - thank you God!
All for now, more later - Love, Mikahla
P.S. write to me if you get a chance, I am feeling a little bit lonely.
