We had to work on Saturday because we had holiday。 I had the shock of my life when I glanced out of the door to my classroom and saw 2 students leaning out of an open window。 It turns out they were cleaning it, but I nearly went out to tell them to get down。
On Saturday night we were invited to Chinese theater by a local bar。 It was basically a publicity stunt, but it meant that we got free tickets。 When we eventually got there we had to stand behind a banner that said something in Chinese while we wore cowboy hats that had the badge of the bar on。
The Chinese theatre was really random (mainly because it was in Chinese, so we had no idea what was happening)。 There were singers and dancers and an incredible acrobatics show。 The acrobatics were amazing; there were kids doing that thing with ribbon from the ceiling that use to be a BBC add, but they were doing some extreme things on it。 At one point there was a girl spinning in the air, and the only thing she was attached to was a rope that was around her neck and another girls neck who was suspended in the ribbon。There was also a man who inflated a rubber glove while it was over his face, and a lot of comedy (which was wasted on us)。 The best bit was when Blandine, Serena and Josie had to get on stage (part of the publicity) and spin plates。 They started to talk to them in Chinese and when Blandine had a microphone put in front of her she just looked very confused and said “Ni hao”。 They also tried to get them to sing a Chinese song, which ended in Josie screaming into the mic。
Yesterday I went exploring, but didn’t find anything that excited。 I did get my first manicure since I have been here。 My aim is to be able to say a little more conversational Chinese, and then I will go back for another one。
