So waking up at the campsite at 6:30 am by a few helicopters that were carrying sand bag from one side of the river to the other doing some exercise with the polizi and firefighters but was a bit of a rude awakening. They were flying just over our heads so not being able to sleep for much longer we went to see what they were doing. Got the bikes off, dogs saddled up and off we went to see. They had shut off a few bridges so a few little detours and suddenly a chopper was flying about 30m above us.
Arch was being lifted off his feet and I had the breaks on leaning into the wind and Blaze has his face blown into very funny shapes. After about 3 minutes the chopper dropped the bags man and his dog resumed to there upright positions and the workforce proceeded to pass each bag down the line to a pretend barrier. Meanwhile Stu had thought that it was a perfect time to let Blaze off the lead. And no sooner as the clip was pulled back Blaze had bolted across the middle of the excercise field to go and get a drink from the lake. Unbeknown to me that all this was happening just saw some crazed dog making a beeline across the field realise it was my horror and started yelling. No one could hear anything as the chopper was leaving another was about to arrive, it was all so loud I couldnt even hear myself. Luckily I had my emergency whistle, blew it and he came running back as quick as poss but obviously after he had his drink. And the funny thing was one one even battered an eyelid. So after all the drama back on the bike and contineued on our ride.
Through all the woods and down across the river Issar was stunning and only minimal hills as the first hill we had gone up I'd got to the top and was sick over the dog having a poo. Was not a pretty sight and wish never to be repeated.
Anyway excluding all the mishaps was excellent
