We arranged to meet in Oberammergau for the first kletterstaige of the trip. A special trip for Lindas birthday. We got into a rickety old lift that departed every 20 minutes or so or when there were enough people to fill it up.
At the top the weather was crystal clear . A quick check of the map and off we trotted. Halfway down the mountain round a few bends and another map stop later we realised we had gone a little wrong but regardless went back up and got the start of the kletterstaige after a 15 minute walk took over a hour.
A quick brief by Andy to Linda as it was her first time, in the fine art of kletterstaige then off we went. Quite an exposed route but only 30mins long. Pretty good though and the weather was still perfect.
Whilst we were all booted and suited there were people doing it without even a helmet on. Not such a good idea me thinks. Anyway, we had our sandwiches at the top and then climbed down the same way then walked to the bottom.
After a little walk with the dogs jumped back into the van and when to look at the rook climbing.
I was quite tied to opted out what would of been a hard route for me. Stu and Andy had a quick go but several quick draws in part of the rock had come away so it was verging on impossible so that quickly finish so we carried on to the shops that we past on the way in.
A lovely little wooden shop, I mean that sells things made of wood. Got a free bits and went to find the others. They were in the shop opposite where we had parked. The guy was completely wasted, stumbling over himself and his words. Andy kept him talking whilst Linda nipped across to the other shop.
This guy sold odd religious statues made of wood and bowels that won't split nit like the cheap Charlie shop next door that was just commercial s***. Well his stuff was all over €40 and rubbish. So much for the cheap Charlie s*** that everyone likes. Was very funny though.
Headed back home and had a lovely curry for dinner.
