TODAY - 1st April - has been a big day for a number of reasons. The main reason is that we have launched 40 yachts into the water (still 160 to go). I wasn't involved in the launch but the marina staff, when they stopped talking politics and got their act together, were really fast! The two training yachts are in! One does not even have a steering wheel yet! The crew had to steer with the emergency tiller (stick instead of a wheel basically).
Two - it was a really hot day and I spent it with Pete and Tim painting 3 brand new yachts with 2 coats of epoxy glue so it is ready for antifouling. The weather was very kind and it was dry in the morning so we could start right away, with very little wind, so we got all the yachts done and management were very pleased.
And three - (long story here) my first job today was to spray the new 50ft Beneteau to get rid of the dust from sanding which we did yesterday and then start to paint epoxy on the hulls. Meanwhile the training school here are running a yachtmaster prep course. The marina is HUGE, and it takes 15 minutes to walk from the yard where the 200 yachts are, round to the new 50ft. As I was walking back, they 'kidnapped' me onto their yacht and we went for a sail for an hour. The purpose was for me to see the principal's teaching method. So getting on the water was lovely. And.... the examiner for their exam is joining tonight and he is the same man who examined me for my yachtmaster back in 2007!! So after finishing this I am going to try to catch him to say hello!
Hopefully me next blog update won't be in 3 weeks and I apologise again for taking so long to get this sorted!
Email me and let me know what you think!!
