So much to see so little time
Howdy Y'all.I've decided that I will post on my blog weekly.I have designated one day to my blog.I am so bad at remembering to keep you informed.
Anyway what has happened since last week?Oh! I went to my internship on Monday.Long and I bought some plants for the kids to plant in their garden.Man I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a plant store. It took us about an hour to find the place. We bought four pretty good sized plants for 40,000 Vietnam dong, which is roughly $2.50.I bet it would cost at least $40 for these plants a Callaways.Anyway, once we got to the shelter, there was already a lady from Ireland teaching the kids English. So we waited until she was done then led the kids to the top patio on the roof to plant the flowers. They really enjoyed it.All the kids were involved in helping out. Some removed old plants, some dug new holes, and others watered the plants. They really enjoyed it.
Also, my Viet class has changed.I am now in a class all on my own, 4 days a week.I like it so far because I can go at my own pace and not feel like I am holding back my other classmates from learning.(Free Fridays! More time to play.) However, when the class description said intensive, it meant intensive. It I am always trying to keep up with the assignments. The ones that take me the most time are the essay writing assignments, and the ones that scare me the most are the presentations. This week we studied about the traffic in Sai Gon.And if you can't tell by the pictures I have taken, let me tell you it is crazy.People on motor scooters weaving in and out of traffic, up on sidewalks and they definitely do not yield to pedestrians. When you want to cross the street you have to have guts.I am finally use to it.In fact just today, a couple of Englanders followed me across the street.
Tomorrow is our trip to Hue.I am so excited.I need a break from all the hustle and bustle in the city.I am kind of tired of it.From what I have been told Hue is one of the most beautiful cities in Viet Nam.It was once the capital of VN and has ancient buildings and tombs of old kings.(Be on the look out for new pics coming.)I need to get in the habit of taking my camera with me every where.
That's all for now.
