London to The Black Sea
Day five : 53m/85k taking cumulative to 228m/365k
Further progress across Brittany but this time in cloud and some light drizzle. Lots of small villages with one shop, usually selling tractor parts rather than anything as boring as food.
Craon looks a great place though so maybe I'll get dinner tonight so I can settle down and read my French copy of Combine Harvester Monthly ( it's good to blend in)
Great accom tonight, converted barn in the grounds of a large old house next to the river. The door mat has "palace" written on it (see photos) so now I can wipe my feet on them every time I enter the room. Did I mention Brighton beat them 3-0?

Mark Hi Andy, great to get news of your adventure, will follow with interest, take care.
Damian A GREAT was to spend St George's Day. You'll be fluent I reckon by the Swiss border!! Continued good luck with the weather and winds
Jo fab blogging so far - and some lovely pics - your accommodation looks very nice although I can empathise with the "ferme" signs from when Mum and Dad were property hunting out there...this was why I firmly pointed them in the direction of Italy and pizza instead... :-) Carry on biking and blogging and hope the weather improves a little!!
Andy The mentions of tractor parts and Combine Harvester Monthly caught my eye. Betraying my Suffolk roots. Keep the blogs coming and the pedals going. And bring back a size 7B industrial cultivator with optional crop spray attachment... if they fit on the bike.
Neil Lipscomb Nice going Andy - I was about to make a remark about your mileage when I read about the 45lbs of kit - that makes a bit of a difference! Have you tried ice baths in the evening a la John Bishop?? Longue vie les MAMIL(s)...
