We are Sailing
Our neighbours were great, but of course there was still an urgency as our anchor wasn't secure. Next was to get "Dianne' the blow up boat (DTBUB)t, put on the motor, and take the anchor out, drop it and secure it. Sounds easy, except when we put the motor on DTBUB it wouldn't start. By this time the sea breeze came in, and it made cyclone Tracy look like a light breeze. Thank heavens we were not in the middle of nowhere. By this time our neighbor (who was feeling a little guilty) lent us his motor. It was slightly more powerful than a Sunbeam mix master. Stuart, and the girls loaded the chain into DTBUB THEN Stuart climbed down to help Lay the anchor out, while Brian worked the motor. Can you imagine, 2 guys in a blow up boat, with a full 50 meters of chain and anchor, with a mix master for a motor, heading into Cyclone Tracey's older sister. Bloody hilarious. I reckon they had all about an inch and half of freeboard. They started feeding the chain out, but were getting blown off course, so Brian being the ex speedway driver he is, managed to do a few maneuvers that would have made Mark Webber proud. Finally they got the anchor down. But quickly they had to get back, and take up the slack. Stuart slowly took up the slack, it appears to have worked. That was a close call, which was made worse by the fact we didn't have a motor. We found out a little later, than when the boat next door arrived (which was after us) they laid their anchor over r ours. Stuart explain this to them, as we were intending to leave earlier than them. The yacht is a charter yacht, and the crew were inexperienced. One dived overboard and lifted our anchor to untangle it, but did not tell anyone. Of course it didn't grip. (hence why they were feeling a little guilty) But in the end no harm done, they are a good bunch of blokes,'as are the people in the yacht on the other side. Next for us, it to get the ignition fixed, otherwise we will be marooned on the lovely island. What a sad thought :) The upshot of all this is we had a very late tea down down. 10.45.
It is now 12.58am so I am going to hit the sack, as we have a little bit of work to do tomorrow on the boat.
