We left Jezera mid morining for a lesurely trip to our next destination, which we hadn't decided. All we knew was we intended going the long way around the Island of Murter, to see all the inlets and little towns. The was such a variety of things to see. The island is connected by a bridge, so there were many campervans and caravans and people in tents all along the shoreline. We must have coincided with the Annual EU tanning all over convention, as there seemed to be little need for bathers or clothes. We also passed a stink boat with the Captain sailing along without a stitch on. All i could think of is a very overcooked hot dog. Ouch!
We managed to find this great little place called Tisno, so we called the marina and the lady said everything was free. We couldn't believe our luck. FREE! We circled around the pier a couple of times, but noone seemed eager to entice us onto the pier, so we took the initiative and backed ourselves in, It was probably our best berthing yet. Once we sorted things, I thought I had better see what the deal was, and there were some people on another boat further down the pier. They directed me to Gina's restaurant. Cheryl and I made our way to the restaurant and we spoke to Gina. Apparently where we had tied up was for permanent boats, and they will be back later tonight. Damn! Gina directed us to the Marina a little further on, in the town called Murter. (same as the Island). We untied ourselves, and moved on. We phoned in and we were able to get a berth.
It was again a pleasant trip to the marina, and it was not long before the marina crew were signalling to us to come in. We were requested to reverse in, which we did. On the way in you could see all the charter boats owned by the Marina. They lined up to go out next day. The numbers went up to 67. It appears Bavaria was having a summer sale and they brought the whole fleet. As we were backing up, the Marina crew were teaching some of the charter people how to tie up and to watch what we did. The A team was ready to put on a good show. Cheryl threw her rope and in doing so hit her elbow on the Bimini rail and the rope went into the water. Not exactly what you should be teaching to inexperienced sailors! and the marina crew did mention to probabley not do it quite like that!! other than that everything went well. We tied up, and decided to have lunch before we checked out the facilities.
The facilities are fantastic. First class. Modern, clean, and well presented. There was also a laundry, so we decided we should stay an extra night, otherwise we would be sailing the boat nude also.
Later in the evening we made our way into town, which was filling up very quickly. The town was the typical small croatian village, and like the other towns we have visited so far, has been extensively upgraded. The girls located the supermarket and bakery.
We decided to have a meal at one of the many eating houses. We went to Jadran Konoba. The waiter serving us was excellent. Good english and very helpful. The meals were very nice. Brian and I had a Gourmet burger, which was a meat patty wrapped around melted cheese. I would like Cheryl to make these when we get home. Cheryl had Weiner Shnitzel with potato and spinach. Just like our friend Paul Kapors dad made. Diane had Roast veal with baked potatoes. Brian was imressed with his house red. I had Coke Zero as my head was still recovering from the red we had the previous night. On our way back to the boat we picked up the usual ice cream. There are so many ice cream places in Europe, and each one seems to have their own individual flavours.
It was a very pleasant night. We showered in the great facilities and went to bed for a good sleep.
Today has been pretty laid back. The girls collected the laundry, and collected all the clothes that had dried on the boat railings. While Brian and Di slept in Cheryl and I wandered down the town to have a look around, and have a cup of coffee.( Cheryl had already got up earlier to do a walk by herself whilst the rest of us were sleeping.) On our way back we brought some Croissants and savoury fingers to have for breakfast.
After breakfast we made a decision to do some shopping, as we were leaving tomorrow. We also were going to have lunch and tea on the boat as kitty was looking a little dishevelled.
Whilst walking through town we found a little fresh fruit and vege market, where we made some good purchases. On the way back we stopped at the supermarket to top up with a few additional things we needed.
The afternoon was very hot and steamy so we retired to the boat. The girls made a great lunch of cold meat and salad in panini rolls.
Brian and I sat on deck and had a couple of beers, watching all the charter boats leaving for the week.
After a snooze, we surfaced for afternoon tea, with fresh bread, vegemite and cheese, accompanied by a couple more beers. This time however we were watching all the boats coming in for the night. They seem to appear out of nowhere. We went from having no neighbours to lots by the time it had got dark,
The girls made a great meal of Hi kin min (whoflungdung??) not sure. But it tasted great. Hopefully there some left over for lunch tomorrow.
